This Week's Review and Giveaway:
The New Best of Better Baking.com by Marcy Goldman

I spend countless hours baking and luckily for me, it's a pleasure and not a chore. Because I love trying out new recipes, especially baking recipes, receiving a cookbook like The New Best of Better Baking.com gets me excited about plunging my hands into the flour and getting busy!

Before cooking and baking blogs became as popular as they are today, Marcy Goldman, a professional pastry chef based in Montreal, was well ahead of the pack, sharing her no fail, delicious recipes and practical baking tips on the her website BetterBaking.com. With a large variety of baking recipes, including those for cakes, cookies, breads and muffins, it wasn't long before the site was being noted for its superior design, delicious food and entertaining and informative essays.

The New Best of Better Baking.com collects the best recipes from Marcy's popular website and presents them in a beautiful book format. Page after page, this cookbook is filled with delicious, mouth watering recipes like the ones we have already featured on our weekly menus.
The Maple Granola Bars were inhaled by my kids and I loved how they stuck together and didn't crumble apart when you ate them. The Famous Terre Etoile Oatmeal Cookies were raved about at an event I baked them for. I even had attendees of the event emailing me for the recipe before it had even been published on Can I get the Recipe? And the Woolworth's Fudge Cake? Well, I can tell you, I ate that cake as a child sitting at the counter at Wooworth's and have many fond memories of the fudgy icing and moist, beautiful cake. And Marcy has re-created the recipe perfectly!

With easy to make recipes, The New Best of Better Baking.com has quickly become one of the top three cookbooks I reach for when baking for my family. Even thought there are no pictures to look at, the recipes speak for themselves. The biggest problem I face is deciding which recipe to try. We already have chosen a few recipes as family favorites and there is no end in site for trying out more. On our "must make" list...Triple Chocolate Chunk Cookies, New York Black and White Cookies, Sunrise Cranberry, Apple, and Orange Buttermilk Muffins, Beaver Tails, Orange and Lemon Frosted Scones, and more. Whether it is bread, bars, cookies, or pizza, The New Best of Better.com is definitely a winner.
